Alannah Burdess
Alannah Burdess was introduced to criminal appeals work at the 2024 CALA Conference. She subsequently joined APPEAL as a volunteer before becoming a Legal Intern while completing her law conversion degree at King’s College London. In that role, she developed a new case enquiries process and worked with APPEAL’s senior lawyers to support the review of requests for assistance.
Alongside her studies and work at APPEAL, Alannah volunteered for a year as an Appropriate Adult, observing cases in police custody suites at the earliest stage of the criminal justice process. She recently completed the Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy and will begin pupillage at Foundry Chambers in October 2026.
